I once heard you shouldn't boil water for coffee or tea--do you know anything about that? It has something to do with taking oxygen out of the water, and thus the brew isn't as good. Another rumor is that it is best to make coffee from cold water. What do you think?

Comments: Remarkable creamy body with citric acidity.  Brown sugar and chocolate tones. Smooth mouthfeel. Balanced flavor. No apologies for decaf.

This is our Decaf Roast for the discriminating coffee drinker that does not want caffeine.  It is artisan-roasted from Specialty 100% Arabica water-decaffeinated coffee beans grown in the higher altitudes of the South American coffee valleys.  These are not "run-of-the-mill" coffee beans.  This is our own South American blend (Brazil and Colombia), which is characterized by delicate sweetness, gentle acidity and round, balanced flavor.

We are proud to report that on the July, 2010 issue of coffeereview.com, the World's leading coffee buying guide, we were ranked as the best decaf coffee in North America; the only one with a score of 90 points.  And we have the lowest prices! This is a rare consumer's dream: the best coffee at the lowest prices.  Thank you Coffee Review!

This is what the reviewers had to say: "Blind Assessment: Roundly balanced and deep. Flowers, orangy fruit and molasses in the aroma. In the cup soft, integrated acidity, syrupy mouthfeel, with the continuing orange-toned fruit and molasses adding a distinct chocolate complication. The chocolate and molasses carry into a richly sweet finish haunted, as the cup cools, by a faint wisp of flavor-flattening wood."

We will custom roast these beans for you and send them in heat-sealed, foil bags with a one-way air valve, which lets the CO2 out, but not the air in.  This is significantly more expensive than the standard Kraft paper coffee bags available in the supermarket and most coffee shops, but it maintains the high-quality of our coffee.  Unless you tell us otherwise, we will roast these coffee beans to the level that our Roastmaster judges best for the type, density and crop-year of the beans.  Enjoy our Decaf Roast coffee.  Just because you don't want caffeine, it does not mean you need to compromise on flavor and substance!

These beans were decaffeinated by the water process; the preferred, non-chemical decaffeinating method. The water process removes caffeine from coffee beans without the use of solvents or chemicals. Traditional decaffeinated coffee uses Methylene Chloride (nothing we would want in our bodies) to remove the caffeine. So if you do not want artificial chemicals in your coffee, make sure you chose the naturally water decaffeinated coffee.

We are fanatics about green coffee quality, roast freshness and, ultimately, coffee flavor.  We only sell what we drink.  There is no need to compromise, just because you want to drink decaf coffee.  Our South American decaf blend is characterized by robust flavor.  Once you try our decaf coffee "you will not want to drink any other decaf coffee, even the big name ones!"  This is an actual, new-customer comment.

If you are serious about your coffee (as we are!), buy roasted coffee whole bean (in our opinion, buying whole bean is the only way to buy roasted coffee).  We suggest that you get a burr coffee grinder, specially if you want to make Espresso..  A burr coffee grinder is good for all kinds of coffee brewing methods. Some people, however, cannot afford (or do not want to spend the money) for a burr coffee grinder, so they buy a blade grinder. A blade grinder is fine for drip coffee makers (what most Americans use) and French Pots, but it is not good for Espresso.  We have a nice selection coffee grinders (both blade and burr) in all price categories.  Please check them out under the "Coffee Gear" button.
