I once heard you shouldn't boil water for coffee or tea--do you know anything about that? It has something to do with taking oxygen out of the water, and thus the brew isn't as good. Another rumor is that it is best to make coffee from cold water. What do you think?

 2009-03-31 20:37:07   I am anxious to try home roasting. My experience with coffee beans in the past has been pre-roasted beans from they grocery store (Millstone brand) and an electric drip maker. The blend that I liked the most was 2 parts 'Colombian supremo' to 1 part 'french roast'. Knowing that, which green coffees would you recommend that I should order from you to achieve a similar result? As far as brewing methods are concerned I have a french press but I don't like the sediment. Would vacuum brewing be a superior alternative to the electric drip maker?
